The painting on enamel dial is representing "The Creation of Adam », one of the most iconic frescoes painted by Michelangelo Buonarroti on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. Completed around 1512, it is celebrated not only for its masterful technique but also for its profound symbolism and cultural impact.

When, in 1512, Michelangelo finally completed the fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, considered one of the most famous works in the history of art, the cardinal administrators stayed for hours to look at and admire this magnificent fresco. After the analysis, they met with the master of the arts, Michelangelo, and without any embarrassment, criticized one detail in particular.

The criticism, of course, did not concern the whole work, but a detail, apparently debatable. Michelangelo had designed the panel of man's creation with the fingers of God and Adam touching each other. The administrators demanded that there should be no contact, but that the fingers should be further apart: that the finger of God should always be extended to the maximum, but that the finger of Adam should be with the last contracted phalanges. A simple detail but with an astonishing meaning: God is there, but the decision to look for him belongs to man. If he wants to extend his finger, he will touch it, but if he doesn't want to, he can spend a whole life without looking for it. The last phalanx contracted from Adam's finger then represents free will.

To fit this rectangular work of art, Jean-Pierre Hagmann accepted the challenge of making a special rectangular elongated case with downturned lugs in 18K gold. Jean Pierre Hagmann (1940–2025) was a legendary Swiss watch case maker, revered for his exceptional craftsmanship and contributions to haute horlogerie. His work, marked with the "JHP" hallmark, is highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs.
