PATEK PHILIPPE & Co, “Hour Glass”, movement no. 831135, case no. 614024, made in 1936 A very fine and rare, 18k yellow gold rectangular wristwatch with silvered dial, gold Gay Freres bracelet and faceted crystal. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present watch in 1936 and its subsequent sale on February 3rd, 1937. Fitted with cal. 9-90, mechanical, manual winding, rhodium plated rectangular movement stamped PXP for USA Hallmark import, with 18 jewels. Dial, case and movement signed Dim. 20.20 x 34.5 mm. (excluding lugs) Thickness 7.60 mm. ★★ Patek Philippe watches made for the American market are recognizable through the PXP or HOX hallmarks stamped on movements. PXP was exclusively stamped on Patek Philippe watches while the mark HOX was stamped on both Patek Philippe and Universal watches that were imported by HSWA (Henri Stern Watch Agency aka Patek Philippe USA). These import marks are often on the movement bridges of Swiss watches brought into America during the 1940s and 1950s. The present watch still retains its original and removable gold Gay Freres bracelet, a rarety.
