Dial, case and movement signed.
Diam. 68 mm. Thickness 19.10 mm.

The present sterling silver detent flying tourbillon chronometer is described and illustrated in the book “Le Tourbillon”, by Reinhard Meis, page 258. According to the author, a large Longines pocket watch was transformed into a detent flying tourbillon by a student or master watchmaker at a German watchmaking school. To our knowledge, no other flying tourbillon has been built based on a Longines pocket watch.

The Longines department has also confirmed us that the original Longines watch was invoiced to its Budapest agent, Herpy Arnold, in June 1925, and that the original calibre 24.99 was subsequently modified into a flying tourbillon, probably by a student or master watchmaker from a German watchmaking school.
The work on the Tourbillon cage is reminiscent of the Glashütte watchmaking school. It bears a strong resemblance to Alfred Helwig's tourbillon pocket watches, made in the 1930s.
