PATEK PHILIPPE , Ref. 5131G, World Time

Out of stock.

Iconeek is proud to introduce here a very fine and highly attractive, water-resistant, automatic, 18K white gold World Time wristwatch with 24-hour indication and polychrome cloisonné enamel dial, depicting “Europe-Asie”

In 2008, Patek Philippe upgraded the Ref. 5130 model with a cloisonné enamel dial, called it Ref. 5131 and presented the watch at Baselworld. Inspired by the highly collectible references 2523 and 2523/1 with enamel dials, Ref. 5131 is actually one of the most sought-after watch of Patek Philippe’s current collection.

Reference 5131 is the successor to reference 5130 and features three notable differences: the use of a distinctive cloisonné enamel dial, the use of italics for the names of the 24 cities, and the bezel engraved with the words “Patek Philippe” and “Genève”. The model was first launched in 2008 in 18K yellow gold, under the Ref. 5131J. An 18K white gold version appeared in 2009. The 18K pink gold variant, Ref. 5131R, appeared in 2014.

Reference 5131J, in yellow gold, is illustrated in Patek Philippe, The Authorized Biography, by Nicholas Foulkes, page 261. In 2012, a special and unique 5131J with a view of Lake Geneva was made for a charity auction. In 2014, Patek Philippe’s 175th anniversary saw the launch of two limited edition World Time watches, Ref. 5131/175G with cloisonné enamel dial representing Lake Geneva and Ref. 5575G with moon phases.

The dial of the present white gold version represents Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania; the dial of the yellow gold example shows theAmericas, Europe and Africa; the dial of the pink gold example features Asia, Oceania and the Americas. Only two or three enamel artists are able to create these rare dials; together they are able to deliver only 30-40 dials for each color gold every year. Since eachdial (even those of the regular production) is made by hand and the fi rings yield unique shades, every watch may be considered a unique  piece. Reference 5131 is equipped with the ultra-thin automatic 240 HU caliber (HU for “Heure Universelle”, French for “World Time”). It features an eccentric 22K gold micro-rotor recessed in the back plate. Caliber 240HU was introduced in 1999, together with Ref. 5110 (see page 276).
