Iconeek is proud to introduce here a nice and attractive, 18K yellow gold quartz Cartier wristwatch: the Panthere Grand Model featuring  the UAE Quraysh Hawk.

Made upon special request for Cheikh Rachid ben Saïd Al Maktoum, Emir of Dubai from 1958 to 1990, this example was probably part of a small order of timepieces, often offer as gifts by the Emir. The “Quraysh Hawk”, symbol of the United Arab Emirates, is printed in different « padded layers », creating a tri-dimensionnal effect. At the center of the hawk is a polychrome enameled Dhow or Arabian sailboat, which is replaced today by the U.A.E. federation flag. Cheikh Rachid ben Saïd Al Maktoum (June 1912- October  1990) was the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since the creation in 1971 and constitutional monarch of Dubai (1958 till 1990).

The model has a three-body construction: a rounded square bezel, secured by screws to the case, a square-shaped gold case with rounded edges, crown guard, cabochon-set gold crown and downturned lugs, a plain gold case back secured by eight gold screws. Under the flat sapphire crystal, we find a matte silvered dial with painted radial Roman numerals, inner railway minute/second division, aperture for the date at 3, blued steel Epee hands, Cartier secret signature at 7.

The market has identified only a handful of watches fitted with this dial configuration. The model is powered by a caliber 83 Cartier, quartz, with 9 jewels. The present watch comes with its original removable and integrated 18K yellow gold bracelet with deployant clasp, the approx. overall length is 185 mm. Dial, case and movement are signed. the total weight is 113,60 gr. with bracelet.

Fresh to the auction market, in superb condition, almost unworn, full-set, from the first owner, the present rare and special Cartier Panthere is a collector.

Condition: 9/10, in extremely good overall condition, full-set, first owner, battery just has been changed.
