SELECTRON, CHRONOGRAPH SWISS, STEEL

Iconeek is proud to introduce here an amazing, 1970s,  large, unusual, rare and interesting military-type « viggen » water-resistant stainless steel chronograph’s wristwatch: the Chronograph Swiss Selectron. Among all the diversity of viggen chronographs, such as the Tissot Navigator, Lemania SAAF, Viggen, Rodania, Pontiac, the Selectron by Chronograph Swiss is one of the rarest.

According to scholars, Chronograph Swiss has been a Swiss brand in the  1970s,  that bought watches from Lemania manufactory and designed/branded them in a more civilian version. Even the name Selectron remains a mystery as at the time Ollech & Wajs was producing under the same name the « Selectron » chronograph. Here, under Ref. 817, we find a three-body construction case: a large steel case with straight thick lapidated lugs, a screwed case back, a snap-on bi-directionnal revolving black bezel. Under the armored plexyglass crystal, a highly legible matte black dial with painted luminous large Arabic numerals, luminous white Baton hands, signed « T SWISS MADE T » at the bottom. Inside ticks the famous Lemania caliber 1872 (see Speedmaster Models), manual winding, with nickel finish, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, self-compensating flat balance spring, monometallic balance, shock-absorbers, signed Lemania on the chronograph bridge.  Dial signed Selectron, movement signed Lemania, case numbered.

Condition: 9/10, in superb overall condition, case back slightly scratched. the watch just has been serviced, the bezel has taken a nice and attractive patina, fading to a light grey color, superbly aging  creamy lume
