LeCoultre Shark Full-set

LECOULTRE, SHARK DEEP SEA, FULL-SET

ICONEEK price: SOLD

Iconeek is very proud to introduce here an extremely rare, full-set and highly attractive stainless steel chronograph wristwatch with « reverse panda » black dial, inner tachometer scale and world time revolving bezel: The Shark Deep Sea.

Jaeger LeCoultre’s reference E 2643 was launched in the late 1960s and was marketed as the “Shark Deep Sea” in the U.S., and as the “Vogue Chronograph” in Europe. The “LeCoultre” signed-dial on this example indicates that it was made for the American market. This unusual diving chronograph is housed in a massive case measuring 41 mm in diameter. Jaeger-LeCoultre created this diving watch combining a chronograph with a world time bezel to fulfill any active and sporty wrist of the time.

Water-resistant to 120m, featuring broad, angular lugs, the masculine lines and case dimensions, combined with its modern styling, make it difficult to believe this watch is nearly a half-century old. The matte black dial featuring a tachymeter scale along the outer edge, with its white sub-dials, gives it a sporty aesthetic with great legibility. The present watch can be considered a chameleon, as the watch can adapt to the wearer’s needs by changing the bezel. Swapping the fitted telemeter bezel with the additional, supplied 60-minute bezel, the watch can be used for more casual wear. With the world time bezel, it becomes a great travel watch. In the United States, the model was available with three interchangeable bezels: a traditional diver’s bezel, a telemeter bezel, and a World Time bezel, such as the present watch.

In original and excellent condition, this early example of LeCoultre’s “Shark Deep Sea” is further enhanced by its original presentation box and supplied alternative bezels, and exceptionally rare fact a blank original guarantee and user manual. The model is illustrated and described in Jaeger-LeCoultre One, Yearbook 2008, as well as in Jaeger-LeCoultre, La Grande Maison, by Franco Cologni, page 337. The size between the lugs is 20 mm.

The present watch is furthermore accompanied by a Jaeger-LeCoultre Extract from the Archives, confirming production in 1969. The present watch is further enhanced by its original, excellent condition which will appeal to the collector of unusual and rare sports watches. Cherry on the cake, the present watch also comes with an original stainless steel J.b Champion bracelet.

An exceptionally rare and uncommon ensemble for savvy collectors!!!
