Nonius Flyback Ref. 8225

LONGINES NONIUS Fly back

ICONEEK price: SOLD

The Longines Nonius fly-back chronograph is a very unusual model, with a special patented 1/10th second chronograph timing. Inspired by the caliper, the special chronograph hand, patented in 1971, patent no. DE1673822, allows the owner to read the 1/10th time, by looking to the number of the hand “in line” with the inclined concentric minute division.

Water-resistant, thanks to its screw back, the large cushion shaped stainless steel case with mineral glass is fitted with with two recessed round button chronograph and hooded lugs. Slightly repolished log time ago, the case is still in extremely good overall condition, with preserved edges and the case back still deeply engraved “STAINLESS STEEL”.

The watch is powered by caliber 538, based 30CH (from 1947), a mechanical manual winding chronograph, rhodium plated with 17 jewels. The black matte dial with square luminous dots, sunk subsidiary 30-minute silvered register, and an outer 5-minute Arabic division, luminous steel baton hans, yellow graduated scale chronograph hand. Dial, case and movement are signed.

The model is illustrated in Wristwatches by Gisbert L. Brunner and Christian Pfeiffer Belli, page 279.

Condition: 8.5/10, some scratches and tiny dents in places, otherwise in very good overall condition, with preserved edges.
