CK 2279 was introduced in 1943, the model is set with an hesalite glass and powered by a caliber 27 CHRO C12, later called « 321 », created in 1942 and fitted with 17 jewels. In superb condition, the present watch is also featuring a never seen before on this reference, silvered multi-scales dial.

According to the movement serial 9’393’345, the present watch was made circa 1943-1944, being one of the batch of this fabulous reference. Ref. CK 2279 is an extremely fine stainless steel gentleman`s wristwatch with square button chronograph, 12-hour and 30-minute registers, inner spiral and outer tachometer graduation, telemeter scale. With  almost 35 mm diameter, the model comes with a three-body construction, a circular polished and brushed stainless steel case with straight faceted lugs, a winding crown with logo, olive shaped chronograph pushers, a snap on inclined bezel, a snap on case back. The inside in the case is engraved the reference « 2279 ».

Under the hesalite glass, a superb and original silvered dial with painted black Dauphine numerals, outer minute/seconds and 1/5th seconds divisions, black Arabic five-minute markers, three subsidiary dials for the constant seconds at 9, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers at 3 and 6, inner blue spiral tachometer and outermost tachometer graduations, red telemeter scale, blued steel leaf hands. The dial is also stamped « FAB. SUISSE ». Under the plain snap on case back, we find a great condition cal. 27 CHRO C12, rhodium-plated, with 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring and index regulator. Dial, case and movement are signed.  The watch comes with an original stainless steel Omega buckle, as well as a fitted Omega presentation box.

The present watch is among the best surviving example of this reference, the dial is a pure pleasure to look at. Highly trained collectors will notice that the present multi-scales dial, with straight small Arabic numerals, is extremely rare and was hardly found on a later pink gold Omega chronograph model, from 1959, see Omega, A Journey Through Time, inv. 8001, page 543. A similar ref. CK2279, in steel from 1943, this time, with a slightly different dial, in fact, painted radial arabic numerals, is described and illustrated in Omega, A Journey Through Time, inv. 3640, page 540. One can conclude that the present chronograph is one of the rarest configuration and moreover the unique example known to featured such dial on this reference.

Probably unique, A collector !  an extremely rare and highly exciting vintage Omega column-wheel chronograph !

Condition: 9/10, extremely good and  attractive original overall condition, superb patina on the original dial, slightly oxidized between 5 and 10, and at 35 on the edge on the graduation, natural oxydation with times.
