ICONEEK price: SOLD

Iconeek is proud to introduce here a very nice and highly attractive vintage diving wristwatch by Omega: the Seamaster 300 Date “Big Triangle”. Ref. ST166.024, such as the present watch, was launched in 1967, two years after the Ref. ST165.024, launched in 1965 with caliber 552 and without date indication. Made circa 1968, the present watch belongs to the first batches that were delivered. Trained collectors will notice the rare original bezel, moreover it is one of the rarely seen version of the bezels made for the model during time.

Water-resistant to 200m, at the time, the model comes with a 42 mm. tonneau-shaped stainless steel case, with bi-directional rotating bezel bearing the 60-minute for decompression time, lyre lugs, screwed crown and case back engraved “Certified High Pressure Waterproof”, hesalite crystal with logo engraved underneath. The case back is stamped inside “HF” for Huguenin Freres, the case maker. The inside case back is also engraved with the reference number “166.024 SP2”.  Christie’s quoted “Ref. 166.024 exemplifies the glamour of 1960s deep-sea exploration…”

Under the hesalite glass, we find a superb original matte back dial with painted luminous indexes, luminous “big triangle” index at 12, minute and second division, aperture for the date at 3, luminous steel Sword hands. The dial, as well as the bezel, perfectly glows under the UV light. Inside is ticking a caliber Omega 565, with copper color finish, mechanical, 24 jewels, monometallic balance, self-compensating flat balance spring, shock-absorbers, swan-neck regulator. This caliber allows a quick date adjustment by pushing and pulling the winding crown several times. Dial, case and movement are signed. The size between the lugs is 19.70 mm.

An exceptional watch !! a collector !!
