ICONEEK is proud to introduce here a rare and very fine, white gold automatic wristwatch with sweep center seconds and date. In mint condition, complete with all its accessories, the present 5296 is fitted with an Art Deco style two-tone silvered dial. The model was largely inspired by a Ref. 96 SC, case no. 611,198, which is illustrated in the Patek Philippe Museum catalogue, Patek Philippe Watches, volume II, page 329.

Launched in 2005, the Calatrava, Ref. 5296 was inspired by the celebrated 1930’s Calatrava (Ref. 96). The model was first available in white gold. A pink gold version was introduced in 2006, under the Ref. 5296R-001. The distinctive, smooth case, in the classic round Calatrava style of reference 96, is remarkable for its large size. With its double railway track scale, this well-proportioned two-tone silvered dial adds a subtle technical flourish to reference 5296. The dial was inspired by Patek Philippe’s Art Deco creations. The present watch is proudly engraved with the Seal of Geneva, where as the latest production is fitted with the PP seal.

The model is fitted with a two-body case construction: a 38 mm. White gold, water-resistant, tonneau-shaped Calatrava style case with downturned lugs and inclined raised bezel holding the front sapphire crystal, a screwed transparent case back. Under the sapphire crystal, a mint and attractive two-tone, silvered dial with painted blue indexes and railway track scales, « sector » style design, blued steel Feuille hands, aperture for the date at 3. Under the transparent screwed case back, we discover a caliber 324 SC, mechanical, rhodium-plated, with 29 jewels, stamped with the Seal of Geneva, straight line lever escapement, free-sprung self-compensating flat balance spring Gyromax balance, gold rotor. Dial, case and movement are signed. The present watch is fitted with a new leather PP strap and an 18K white gold PP buckle. The size between the lugs is 21 mm. The model is no more in production. The last known retail price in 2018 was 23’800.- CHF.

With its large size, timeless design, modern « sector » style dial, Ref. 5296 is already considered a classic by collectors.
