Reference 7928 was launched in 1959 as part of the Submariner family and was the second series of the Tudor’s Submariner model. Furthermore, It was the first Tudor Submariner model to be designed with protective crown guards. At the time, the cases were fitted with protective crown guards and were water-resistant to 200m/660ft. It remained in production until 1967. The first examples of the reference 7928s were fitted with square crown guards that were later replaced by pointed crown guards, also known as “Cornino”, such as the present example.

This reference 7928 from 1962 features a very attractive, a bit later, original matte black dial with painted white writings, painted luminous dots, triangular and rectangular indexes, outer minute division, gilt « T SWISS T », luminous hands, lollipop sweep center second. The dials always featured the Tudor rose symbol followed by “Oyster-Prince” on the upper half, the lower half generally stating the depth rating 200m=660ft, Submariner, Rotor, Self-Winding on four lines. The case is in good original overall condition. The inside back is engraved « 7928 & II.62 ». Triplelock Rolex crown is later original.Collectors will notice the nicely patinated or faded « ghost » like bezel.  Dial, case and movement are signed.

The present watch is the perfect addition to any growing collection and a superb piece for vintage diving watch fans.
