Introduced in 2012 by Rolex’s sister brand at Basel fair, the Pelagos model is an extremely well-built and fonctionnal professional diver’s watch.

Water-resistant to 500m, the 42 mm. case is made of brushed titanium, a light and very resistant material, as well as the bracelet with its patented spring-loaded ajustement deployant clasp. This bracelet is designed to shrink and expand automatically as the diver descends and ascends. Titanium is perfect for divers, as it is totally unaffected by saltwater, unlike stainless steel.

The screw-down winding crown is fitted with pointed crown guards. The case back is screwed and engraved “Tudor Geneve”. On the band, an we find an helium escape valve for deep diving. The unidirectional rotating diving bezel works impeccably and  is fitted with a mat black ceramic disc, highly scratches resistant,  with luminous Arabic numerals for decompression times.

Under the sapphire crystal, a highly visible mat black dial with large luminous indexes and “snowflake” hands, sweep center seconds and aperture for the date at 3. The indexes, bezel and hands glow in a blue color, extremely brightly in the dark.

Tudor uses the best version of the Eta 2824, a self-winding mechanical movement, but it was not enough. Rolex changes the regular fine ajustement (with screw) for a Triovis fine adjustment.

This light and professional wristwatch is handsome, probably one of the best deal in the Tudor collection, very comfortable, in regards to its affordable price for a robust titanium diver’s watch with perfect finish.
