Iconeek is proud to introduce here a rare and attractive Ref. 7016/0 by Tudor, with inside case back stamped with repeated serial number 827'982. The model Submariner « Snowflake » is a very fine water-resistant stainless steel wristwatch with centre seconds, that reminds us the look of a 5513 Rolex, with a bit more spicy and funny look thanks to the Snowflake numerals.

Rolex introduced Tudor to the market in 1945 with the objective of selling high quality watches at a reasonable price. Part of the Submariner family, Reference 7016 was launched in 1969. The model was the second generation Tudor Submariner and was offered along with the reference 7021, which featured a date window. With its 39 mm. diameter, reference 7016 introduced a dial style with unusual square luminous numerals, “snowflake” hands and the memorable shield logo. The present Tudor Prince Submariner is  a superb example and rare example,  in overall excellent condition with strong case proportions. The inside caseback is stamped with repeated serial number 827'982 - a feature commonly used on issued watches. According to scholars, we can admit that it is the first time we have seen it on a non "full spec" wristwatch. It is possible that this watch was originally intended for military use.

Under the plexiglass crystal, the original blakc dial is stunning, has nicely patinated with time and is perfectly matching the naturally faded grey7black bezel, with no noticeable flaws or defects, which is unusually rare for a dial of this reference. The luminous numerals have aged to a warm cappuccino color, as well as the minute and hour hands. Inside is ticking a caliber 2483, mechanical, self-winding, rhodium-plated, straight line lever escapement, self-compensating flat balance spring, index regulator, shock absorbers. Dial, case and movement signed.

Condition: 8.5/10, in overall excellent condition for its age, later pearl, in working condition, probably intended for military purpose
