Iconeek is proud to introduce here a rare and superb condition, limited edition, platinum and 18K pink gold rectangular reversible double dials dual time zone wristwatch with jumping hour and night and day indication and date: the commemorative Golden Janus by UG. The model is inspired by Universal Geneve ’s Cabriolet wristwatches made between  1927 to 1929.

Under Ref. 042.400, the model, Golden Janus, was made in a very limited edition of only 150 pieces to mark the 100th anniversary of the brand UG (Universal Geneve), 1894-1994.  Universal Genève was established in 1894 by Numa Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret. In 1994 to celebrate the firms 100th anniversary they decided to come out with the Golden Janus model. The present example is number 77 out of 150.  This model features a rectangular-shaped platinum case with a hinge allowing the 18K gold case to be lifted and flipped over similar to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso or the Cartier Tank basculante. The case back is engraved inside « 100 ans de tradition horlogère, 1894-1994, Modèle No. 077/150 » and comes with the platinum hallmark. The case is also engraved « UNIVERSAL GENEVE » between the lugs.

Like the Reverso JLC Night and Day, the Golden Janus is set with one dial on each side. Both dials are signed « Universal Geneve » and « Swiss Made ». The « front » dial is time-only thanks to two-tone silvered one with applied gold Roman quarter numerals, pink gold Leaf hands, an outer minute track. On the other side, we discover a two-tone silvered dial with an off-center guilloche regulator-type dial for the minute, blued steel Leaf hand, an aperture at 12 for the jumping hour indication, subsidiary guilloche dial for the date at 6, aperture for the night and day indication at 9. 

Inside ticks a caliber UG42-83/4’’’, mechanical, hand wound, jewelled movement. The watch comes with a leather strap and an 18K pink gold and stainless steel Universal Geneve deployant clasp. The watch is accompanied by a fitted Golden Janus book-shaped leather presentation box, product litterature and guarantee.

This Universal Genève Golden Janus is a rare, beautiful and interesting watch, great for many occasions.

Condition: 8.5/10, in very good overall condition, very few signs of wear in places, in working condition.
