The Overseas collection is the actual sporty line of Vacheron Constantin. Launched in 1996, the Overseas is an invitation to the voyage, with its natural elegancy combined with an unique design, strongly influenced by the previous ref. 222, introduced in 1977 for 222 anniversary of the brand.Let’s learn more about this – young but yet- icon.

Vacheron Constantin decide to join the exclusive club of luxury sports wristwatches with the ref. 222. The challenge was for VC to compete with already available iconic models such as the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet, or the Nautilus, Patek Philippe. In 1996, Vacheron Constantin introduced the Overseas collection, stemming directly from this ref. 222, this new collection has a more modern design, keeping technical and aesthetic purity of its predecessor, in order to make an ultra fonctionnal contemporary luxury watch. The model was available in time-only or steel chronograph, at the time. Faithful to its sporting heritage, VC launched in 2006 to mark the 10th years of the collection, four new watches: an 18K yellow gold version of the existing chronograph and three totally new Dual-time models. The Dual Time, a complication for whose are travelling frequently, was available in 18K yellow gold with silver engine-turned dial (ref. 47450/B01J-9228), stainless steel with a choice of either a black (ref. 47450/B01A-9227) or a silvered (ref. 47450/B01A-9226, such as the present watch),  engine-turned dials,  a limited edition to 250 pieces  in 18K pink gold with chocolate dial (ref.  47450/B01R-9229). Proof of its well-born origin, almost 10 years after, the model is still available in shops actually.

This present timepiece is an extremely fine, self-winding, water-resistant, antimagnetic, center-seconds, stainless steel all sports wristwatch with date, power-reserve, second time zone and night and day indication for travelers. Perfect in every details, this large, 42 mm diameter, men’s timekeeper has a a dynamic look as well as harmonious lines. The tonneau-shaped polished and brushed case comes with cutting edges. In fact, a very subtil mix between sharp angles and curves,  who leads to an unique design with strong lines, a pleasure to look at. The screwed-down winding-crown and date corrector insure a perfect water resistance to 150 meters. The bezel ’s shape reminds us the Maltese cross pattern, Vacheron Constantin’s long-standing symbol, as well as the shape of the links. The case back secured by 8 screws and embossed with the « Overseas »  medallion, a sailing ship carved into the metal.

Under the flat sapphire crystal, a broad, easy to read, perfect finish, silvered engine-turned dial with  applied steel luminous baton indexes, subsidiary guilloche grey dials for the date and the second time zone and a sector for the power-reserve indication. The large steel baton hands are luminous-coated for optimum legibility at all times. The second time zone is adjustable very simply and independently by the means of the winding crown. Travelers will also appreciated its accuracy thanks to the Vacheron Constantin, in house, self-winding mechanical movement, caliber 1222SC, entirely protected by a soft-iron antimagnetic screen (secured by three screws), beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour,  rhodium-plated, côtes de Genève decoration, 34 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, micrometer regulator, 21K gold rotor segment, hack mechanism. The polished and satin finished stainless steel VC bracelet is set with half-Maltese-cross-shaped links and has an approx. overall length of 190 mm. Dial, case and movement are signed by maker.

The present watch is in extremely good overall condition, full set, box and papers and all accessories. The actual retail price is approx. 19’700.- CHF.

Since its launch, the model is still very sought-after for its contemporary look. A very accomplished timepiece, a powerful personality, the Overseas Dual Time is made for dandy’s adventures.
